Interfaith Study Group
Christians, Muslim & Jews Exploring Each Other’s Texts
- Every other Thursdays: from 4 to 5:30 pm
- LOCATION: at By The Rivers, 690 Cleveland Ave South in St. Paul
- Participants are welcome to attend any dates that are convenient
This study group focuses on representative texts from the scriptures of each of the Abrahamic faiths (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) and wrestle with the meanings of these ancient words and their impact on us today.
We gather to engage in conversation, not conversion; in respectful listening rather than polemics. Participants are not expected to speak for the entirety of their tradition, but rather to offer their own reflections. The goal is building personal connections among members of the group and gaining an appreciation of each tradition.
We utilize a method known in academic circles as Scriptural Reasoning. Each session will focus on one topic as represented in the Qur'an, New Testament, and Torah. Topics include: wisdom, revelation, covenant, Abraham's journeys, and encountering God, among others.
In collaboration with the Jay Phillips Center for Interfaith Learning at the University of St. Thomas.
